$11.2 Million Fire Station Proposal is on Draft Fall Town Meeting Warrant

The request would be funded within Proposition 2 1/2.

The same $11.2 million Westborough fire station proposal that voters defeated at the polls in May is on the draft Oct. 15 fall town meeting warrant.

This time, funded within Westborough's Proposition 2 1/2 levy limit, not a debt exclusion.

Westborough officials posted their plan Monday in the town website's Municipal Building Project Update section.

Voters rejected the $11,208,000 debt exclusion request at the May 15 special town election, 912-672.

That outcome nullifed a March 17 special town meeting vote supporting the project.

After the May vote, Selectman and Municipal Building Committee member George Barrette said that “To me the message was received and understood: We need a new fire station, but please fund it within our limits- no debt exclusion."

The special town meeting warrant is on tonight's board of selectmen agenda.
