2011-12 School Profile: Westborough High School
Though we've never met her, we already like the new chemistry teacher, Ms. Patch.

School Population:
- Number of students: 1,061 (291 freshmen, 276 sophomores, 258 juniors, 236 seniors)
- Number of teachers: 96 faculty members; 10 paraprofessionals
New Teachers:
- A new chemistry teacher will be Deborah Patch.
- A new Mandarin teacher will be Lee Xie.
- A new social studies teacher will be Colleen Gormley, who is returning to the WHS social studies team after six years in Scotland.
- A new Spanish teacher will be Heather Dooley.
- Lynn Dorsey will be a long-term math substitute.
- A new ELL tutor will be Meagan Rutenback.
- A new front-office secretary will be Cleria Burnell.
- Finalizing a new Latin teacher.

Building and Curriculum Changes:
- WHS is adding a brand new Guidance Computer Center.
- In addition, the front offices and guidance offices were painted over the summer.
- WHS will be offering two new Social Studies electives for senior honors students only: History of the Civil War and The World Since 1979.
- Facing History and Ourselves will now be open to juniors as well as seniors (it had previously only been open to seniors).
- WHS is looking to expand their club and activities offerings. Two new possible activities which have been investigated over the summer include a Unicef program and a Jewish Student Union.

Upcoming Orientation and Parent Open House Dates:
- Freshman Orientation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 24 from noon to 3:30 p.m. Orientation is for students only and includes a club and activities fair in the gymnasium.
- The Parent Open House will be held Monday, Sept. 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It is just for parents, to have an opportunity to meet teachers.
Parent Group:
Westborough High School does not have a traditional parent group. However, there are two parent volunteer-run organizations which provide significant support to the school:
