5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 21

MCAS testing takes place for third graders. Eat a healthy breakfast, kids!

1. MCAS testing takes place today through Wednesday for Westborough’s third graders. Parents of are reminded to make sure your child has a nutritious breakfast and is on time for school. 

2. holds its annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, March 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be indoors at the school. Activities include a magic show, games, prizes, a giant slide, the cake walk, face painting and more. Sponsored by the Armstrong Parent Group. 

3. At 6 p.m. on March 30, the will be the setting for “Meet the Racers.” Hopkinton’s Greyhound Friends will bring greyhounds to the library and those in attendance can meet the dogs and get information on the organization’s virtual adoption program. An RSVP is required for the free program. If interested, email name and number of attendees to education@ greyhound.org.

4. The parents group is looking for volunteers for a variety of positions in the 2011-12 school year. Contact Nai-Lin Papagelis at mailin@verizon.net to learn more. Here are a a few of the open positions: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, book fair chair, ice cream social chair, membership chair, field day chairr and publicity chair. 

5. Volunteers are needed for Colonial Day 2011 on May 6 at . This is an annual event for the 5th grade class. If interested in helping out, email co-chairs Pam Smith at pl.smith@verizon.net or Lisa Harrison at yaknak@verizon.net with your name and contact information. Committees include tin punch, quill pen, toy making and candle making.
