WESTBOROUGH — Members of Westborough Girl Scout Troop 65108 are taking the lead on a project aimed at building confidence and self-care skills among younger girls in the community.
As part of their Girl Scout Silver Award, one of the highest honors a Cadette can earn, eighth-grade Scouts Myra S., Sarayu N. and Hasini P. have launched an initiative focused on “Hair Care Confidence.”
The project is designed to provide accessible, easy-to-understand hair care education that helps young girls feel more confident and informed about caring for their hair.
“As part of this initiative, our group has developed educational resources, including a website and informational brochures,” the Scouts shared. “Our goal is to provide accessible hair care knowledge that helps young girls feel more confident and informed.”
The group created an online resource hub, Hair Confidence Hub, which offers guidance and tips tailored to a variety of hair types and needs.
To bring their work directly into the community, the Scouts will host an in-person event on Saturday, May 17 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., where they will share their materials and connect with local families.
The event will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Congregational Society of Westborough, 64 West Main St. Attendees can sign up here.
The event will give attendees a chance to learn practical hair care techniques, explore the group’s resources, and engage with the Scouts behind the project.
The Silver Award requires Girl Scouts to identify a community need and develop a sustainable solution. Through their focus on self-confidence and education, Myra, Sarayu and Hasini hope their project will have a lasting positive impact on young girls in Westborough and beyond.
