Overnight Fire Under Investigation In Westborough Neighborhood

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Authorities are investigating another overnight fire in a Westborough neighborhood, where several suspicious fires have previously been reported.

Westborough fire crews responded to the fire on Thursday, which caused minimal damage and no injuries, the department said. The Westborough fire and police investigation unit and Massachusetts State Police assisted at the scene.

Officials asked residents in the Cottage and Brigham streets neighborhoods to review home security camera footage, particularly activity recorded after midnight. Suspicious activity should be reported to Westborough Police Department detectives

Ongoing Investigation Into Other Suspicious Fires

This area has been the focus of an ongoing investigation.

In May, Westborough officials said that a fire had been intentionally set at a commercial property on Brigham Street, which damaged mulch, shrubs and part of the building's exterior.

Firefighters had also responded to an earlier incident at the same property and multiple fires in the Cottage Street area. Those fires occurred outdoors or at unoccupied commercial properties and caused no injuries, officials said at the time.

Westborough Fire Chief Patrick Purcell previously urged residents to remain alert, particularly overnight, and to call 911 immediately if they see a fire.
