WESTBOROUGH, MA — A new Indian restaurant has opened in the former home of a pizzeria in Westborough.
Desi Chowrastha Indian Eatery has officially opened at 225 Turnpike Rd. in the town's Stagecoach Plaza. The restaurant celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, the business announced on social media.
The menu includes biryanis, tandoori starters, curries, naan, pani puri and beverages, according to the restaurant. Its online ordering menu also lists dosas, uthappam, fried rice and other dishes.
Desi Chowrastha is an Indian restaurant franchise with locations in several states. The Westborough restaurant replaced Uno Pizzeria and Grill, which closed in July 2024.
Back in April, the Westborough Select Board unanimously approved an all-alcohol license for MYPI Foods LLC, doing business as Chowrastha. Sudha Krishnamoorthy was identified as the owner and Saravanan Natesan as the manager of record, according to meeting minutes from an April 28 meeting.
The chain operates or plans to open more than 20 locations across the U.S., including one in Nashua, New Hampshire.
