Another Truck Gets Stuck Under Bridge In Westborough
Officers were working to reopen both lanes shortly after noon on Wednesday.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A truck became wedged beneath a notoriously low railroad bridge in downtown Westborough on Wednesday.
The truck was stuck under the East Main Street bridge as of 12:19 p.m., according to Westborough police. Officers were working to reopen both lanes, though police did not say whether anyone was injured or how long the disruption was expected to last.
"Another truck has found itself stuck under the bridge today, despite the giant signs, flashing warnings, and the bridge’s long-standing reputation for winning this particular matchup," police wrote in a Wednesday announcement. "At this point, we’re starting to think the bridge has a better record against trucks than the Patriots have against some of their recent opponents."

The underpass has a clearance of about 12.5 feet and a long history of truck collisions. Seventy-seven crashes were reported there between 2018 and 2025, including 30 collisions with the bridge, according to the town’s draft Downtown Improvement Project report.
Trucks or tractor-trailers were involved in 61 of those crashes, the report said. The town is evaluating potential improvements to the underpass as part of its downtown project.

This comes days after a tractor-trailer struck a different MBTA railroad bridge on Arch Street. Police cited the driver in that crash after saying he followed GPS directions and missed the posted height restriction.
