Truck Driver Cited After Striking MBTA Bridge In Westborough
A tractor-trailer was left with its roof torn open after striking an MBTA railroad bridge in Westborough over the weekend.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A tractor-trailer was left with its roof torn open after striking an MBTA railroad bridge on Arch Street over the weekend.
A 50-year-old driver from Utah hit the bridge at about 8:37 a.m. Saturday after following GPS directions and failing to notice the posted height restriction, MBTA Transit Police said Monday. Officers cited the driver, though police did not specify the violation.
The rail corridor near Arch Street carries passenger and freight service.

Photos released by Transit Police show the top of the white trailer crushed and peeled back. A yellow sign warning drivers of low clearance is posted near the bridge.

The bridge was inspected after the crash and deemed safe, according to Transit Police. The agency did not mention any injuries.
