Avery Dennison to Move to Westborough

The company, which has deep roots in Framingham, will move here this summer.

Avery-Dennison, a company with deep roots in Framingham, will leave the community and move to Westborough this summer, a company spokesperson says.

Avery Dennison's Retail Branding and Information Solutions business is headquartered at 7 Bishop St., Framingham. The company will move its about 100 employees to Westborough in July or early August, RBIS Director Global Corporate Communications Jeanne Romano said.

"It is very difficult to leave Framingham after so many years," Romano said.

"We wanted to stay in town but could not find office space here that would fit our needs."

"It the end of an era," Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin said.

The Dennison Manufacturing Company was founded in Framingham in 1844.

In 1990, it merged with Avery International Corporation and the company's name became Avery Dennison.

A Fortune 500 company with sales of $6 billion in 2011, Avery Dennison is based in Pasadena, California with more than 30,000 employees in more than 60 countries.

Avery Dennison's RBIS division employs 20,000 in 50 countries, but only about 100 employees here in Framingham.
