Sarah W. Gibbons Middle School

The Westborough Community Chorus&nbsp;will present its annual spring concert, “Icons &amp; Legends,”&nbsp;on Saturday, May 2 at 7:00 PM and Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 PM at Gibbons Middle School in Westborough. This family-friendly performance celebrates decades of popular music, featuring hits from iconic artists like Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Dolly Parton, Lady Gaga, U2, and The Jackson 5. Under the direction of William Goliger, the chorus promises an engaging, sing-along experience for all ages, and will also showcase local student scholarship recipients performing prior to intermission. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, students, and children, available online and at the door. Founded in 1971, the Westborough Community Chorus is a non-auditioned SATB group dedicated to bringing the community together through music while supporting local students with private lesson scholarships.

This coming weekend Westborough Civic Club will again be sponsoring their annual free Fishing Challenge at Sandra Pond Reservoir, Minute Man Park, Upton Road. This will be the eighteenth year of the club fully funding and organizing this event, which is scheduled to take place Saturday May 2nd, fishing times being 9am to 1pm. Registration is free on the day and open to all ages – with multiple prizes awarded for biggest fish in 3 separate age groups. With no fishing licence required for this specific event and persons new to the pastime able to take advantage of loaner rods and reels (and even free bait subject to availability) event organiser Bill ‘Big Fish’ Kohler is hoping that good weather will ensure this year’s turnout surpasses even that of past years, when more than 150 people regularly take part in any one year. The only stipulation is that young children be accompanied by an adult.
Westborough Civic Club is a registered charitable organization established in 1975 for the sole purpose of benefiting the town of Westborough and its residents. The Club is able to sponsor events such as the Fishing Challenge through the sale of trees, wreaths and roping between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve from their East Main Street lot in Westborough and the effort of volunteer members who run this event. New members are always welcome. Ahead of Memorial Day, join us for a multimedia concert that celebrates our veterans.
In their program, “Popular Music and Veterans”, Jon and Li Waterman supplement their well-received "Roots of American Popular Music" program with an exploration through songs of some of the experiences and sacrifices of veterans throughout American history. The program consists of songs, history, and an accompanying slideshow pertaining to some of the experiences of veterans of World War I, World War II, the Civil War and other conflicts alongside the history of popular music in America. The program is part of the series "Live Music Making History Live." This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Westborough Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Join the Greater Milford Community Chorus for a patriotic performance of songs celebrating the American spirit, led by Music Director Mark Schiappucci. Highlights: Works by iconic American composers including Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Arlo Guthrie, Carly Simon, Paul Simon, Philip Phillips – to name a few!Greater Milford Community Chorus is set to host a landmark musical event, "America 250: Songs Celebrating the American Spirit," to celebrate the upcoming semiquincentennial of the United States. The performance will feature a sweeping repertoire of American choral works, ranging from founding-era hymns to contemporary arrangements that reflect the diverse cultural fabric of the nation. 
The GMCC is 50-voice non-profit choral group based in Milford, Massachusetts, under the direction of Mark Schiappucci and is accompanied by the instrumental trio of Wayne Ward (piano), Robert Orr (bass), and Renato Malavasi (percussion). The program is approximately 90-minutes long, with a 20 minute intermission, and features approximately 20 songs, including solos performed by members, and pianist Wayne Ward.Tickets are available for $12 at the door, with free admission offered to children under 10, veterans, and active-duty military members.A Milford Community School Use Program, the Greater Milford Community Chorus is sponsored in part by the Hopedale, Medway and Milford Cultural Councils.

Elsie Kaye Gift Shop &amp; Artisan Studio In 2009, on a whim, Holly Kenny took a flameworking class and learned to make glass beads. This sparked a love of glass art and led to the launch her business, Elsie Kaye Gift Shop and Art Studio in downtown Westborough. Holly currently teaches flameworking and metalworking at her studio and is on the faculty at the New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. Holly loves the fluidity and movement of glass and enjoys incorporating metals, enamels and other elements that can change the texture and appearance of the glass. As a result, much of her work takes on an abstract, organic feel. Her work, under the name Elsie Kaye Glassworks, can be found at more than 50 boutiques and galleries across the country. Holly is passionate about promoting emerging local artists by selling their work at her retail shop, as well as helping to foster connections with new and existing businesses in the local area. She is an active member of her community, where she has lived with her husband and two children since 2006.
