Callaghan a Candidate for WHS Principal

He'll meet with staff, parents and community members on Feb. 26.

Westborough High School Assistant Principal Brian Callaghan is a candidate for WHS principal.

Callaghan will field questions from staff from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, and from parents and community members from 7 to 8 p.m., School Superintendent Marianne O'Connor told the school committee Wednesday night.

In December, Principal John Smith said he is resigning at the end of the school year, ending six years here. At that time, O’Connor said Smith will pursue “other interests in the field of education.”

Last month, O'Connor posted the job in-house based on the faculty's input.

With Westborough High's New England Association of Schools and Colleges review happening next year, “it was very clear from the faculty that they’re really looking for continuity in administration," O'Connor said.
