Does Westborough Need Youth and Family Services?
The Town Manager will be forming a committee to explore that question, and your feedback is requested on the future of this department.

In its monthly newsletter, the department shared that Town Manager Jim Malloy announced he will be requesting a committee to be appointed to review the level of services YFS provides. Malloy indicated that he regularly receives questions about whether YFS’s services are duplicates of what private mental health providers offer.

YFS also said in its newsletter that Malloy received letters from mental health providers accusing YFS of taking clients away from them.
To review all of this, the committee - requested during the first selectmen’s meeting in March - would come up with recommendations for the Fall Special Town Meeting on the future of the department.

The committee will seek input from interested parties who have experience with the department’s services or opinions about the relevance of the department.
