Education Foundation Seeks New Members

The group funds school programs that fall outside of the Westborough Public School budget.

Westborough Education Foundation (WEF), founded 17 years ago, is seeking new members. The foundation's mission is to establish a permanent fund while allocating grants yearly for innovative programs not funded by the Westborough Public School budget.

Grant money is used in a variety of ways. It is offered to all grade levels and areas of study. Among the programs funded by WEF this year: the first Robotics team at , Family Book Club for ESL families, IPads and apps for students with autism, CSI program at , Video Announcer's Club at Backyard Birding and the Teddy Bear Exchange Program.

As public funding decreases, teachers seek to enhance teaching and student excitement through innovative programs, utilizing grants WEF provides. To continue the success of this organization, new members are needed. Activities may include event planning, publicity, newsletter writing, being part of the grants committee and meeting new people. 

Meetings take place in the Forbes Municipal Building and alternate  between morning and evening every other month. Upcoming meetings will be held on Feb. 14 at 9:30 a.m., March 14 at 7:30 p.m., April 10 at 9:30 a.m., May 9 at 7:30 p.m. and June 12 at 9:30 a.m.
