Elsie Kaye Gift Shop &amp; Artisan Studio In 2009, on a whim, Holly Kenny took a flameworking class and learned to make glass beads. This sparked a love of glass art and led to the launch her business, Elsie Kaye Gift Shop and Art Studio in downtown Westborough. Holly currently teaches flameworking and metalworking at her studio and is on the faculty at the New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. Holly loves the fluidity and movement of glass and enjoys incorporating metals, enamels and other elements that can change the texture and appearance of the glass. As a result, much of her work takes on an abstract, organic feel. Her work, under the name Elsie Kaye Glassworks, can be found at more than 50 boutiques and galleries across the country. Holly is passionate about promoting emerging local artists by selling their work at her retail shop, as well as helping to foster connections with new and existing businesses in the local area. She is an active member of her community, where she has lived with her husband and two children since 2006.

John Poreba of The Leadership Institute will present a free seminar, "The Alinsky-Obama Connection," at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24t at the Northborough Free Library, Saul Alinsky has gained a great deal of attention lately because of his history as a community organizer who has influenced many left-leaning leaders including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton (she wrote her college thesis on the Alinsky model). Poreba will describe Alinsky's radical philosophy which is captured in "Rules for Radicals" – a book Alinsky dedicated to Lucifer. Poreba will then describe how Alinsky's philosophy and tactics heavily influenced President Barack Obama's thinking, communications, and political strategy, which was attested to by son L. David Alinsky, in a letter to the Boston Globe suggesting that "Obama learned his lesson well." The event is sponsored by the Northborough Tea Party. Admission is free and open to the general public.
