Gerardo's Bakery Plans Full Bakery

Here are the highlights of the February health inspection reports.

Westborough health officials found nothing warranting a public hearing during their February inspections.

Director of Public Health Paul McNulty, Town Sanitarian Steven Baccari and Health Inspector Terry Gilchrist presented their February inspection reports to the board of health Tuesday night.

McNulty noted in his report that he and Gilchrist toured Spices Indian Kitchen, where, he said, "the owner is having a hard time with his retail business." Selectmen recently granted a common victualer's permit to add 30 seats.

"He can do it if he overcomes some Bldg Dept. issues," McNulty wrote.

McNulty also said he and Baccari, meanwhile, met with the operator of the YMCA's spa pool to discuss the plans to remodel it.

McNulty and Baccari also met with the operator of the Marriott Courtyard's pool.

"There was a problem with the main drain and the owners are discussing whether to close it or not," McNulty wrote.

McNulty said the ad hoc pay as you throw committee met with representatives of E.L. Harvey and Sons, and Goal Zero.

"Goal Zero is a company that makes and markets the PAYT bags. They get a cut of approx. $0.15 per bag to manage the program," McNulty wrote.

"Harveys said that they would work with the town and do anything the town wanted. A number of residents, mostly seniors, were concerned about the cost and if there would be a problem with seniors hauling carts out to the curb, especially on winter days. Jim Malloy will develop some figures covering different scenarios for the next meeting."

Baccari, meanwhile, conducted routine inspections and-or reinspections at: Coca Cola Warehouse; Sodexho at TJX; Knowledge Beginnings; GNC; FedEx/Kinkos; Rotary Pizza; and Ruby Tuesday.

Baccari said he also met with the owner of the new Dunkin' Donuts under construction.

"He wanted to discuss a few changes with the plans they previously submitted and drop off our plan review packet," Baccari wrote.

Gilchrist, meanwhile, conducted routine inspections or reinspections at Sodexho FS @ Bose; Chapel of the Cross; Westboro Quick Mart; TJ Farm; Zitis; Chipotle Mexican Grill; Sleighmaker Inn; Ebridge Montessori School; Corporate Chefs/4 Tech Dr.; Arturo's; Ace Sushi; Central House; Stop & Shop at 290 Turnpike Road; YWCA; Gold's Gym; Westboro Shell; and Positively Pre School.

Gilchrist said she also inspected the Regatta Deli "to check on the location of the mop sink that was removed during remodeling."

She also did a pre-opening inspection at EasyCare Pharmacy.

She also inspected the three Westborough locations selling pre-packaged food and coffee.

She also did an opening inspection at Uhlman Farms Ice Cream.

Gilchrest said she also met with Subway's owner, "who is doing some minor remodeling of the facility."

And "I met with the contractor from Gerardo's Bakery to discuss changes for the newly constructed building. The owner will now be installing equipment so that he can operate a full bakery on site," Gilchrist wrote.
