In Your Shoes Offers $500 Scholarship

For the second year, In Your Shoes will offer a $500 scholarship to a high school senior who demonstrates a desire to make a difference in the Westborough community. Students are encouraged to apply if they meet the following criteria:

• Student must be a Westborough resident.
• Student must have proof of acceptance to a college, trade or business school.
• Student must be in good academic standing.
• Student must be passionate about the community and have demonstrated genuine concern for others through community service.

Send application and essay to: In Your Shoes Scholarship, P.O. Box 19, Westborough, MA 01581. Deadline is May 14.

The mission of In Your Shoes is to make a difference in the community by providing assistance and emergency funds to Westborough residents in need. "In essence, we represent an investment in our community, as we foster and advocate volunteerism to contribute to the health and well being of Westborough residents," stated a press release. The group outlines its goals as follows:
• Encourage community among ourselves and the people we serve.
• Reach out to our community to educate and increase awareness about local needs.
• Promote volunteerism and effective philanthropy.
• Build a network of people and businesses that is a catalyst of positive change.
• Direct charitable donations toward the most worthy local causes, also donating funds to other non-profit organizations that benefit Westborough residents.
