Liquor Store Owner Doesn't Want Ocean State to Acquire License

A liquor store owner voiced his opinion at the Board of Selectmen meeting.

A Westborough liquor store owner suggested that giving Ocean State Job Lot a liquor license would hurt small businesses that are already paying taxes, reported the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.

The owner urged the Westborough Board of Selectmen to reject the request for a wine and malt package store license to be used at the Job Lot on Milk Street. The store wants to sell private-label beers and wines in the center area of the store, said the Telegram.

The board, and the police chief’s, opinions conflicted, and they needed more time; the hearing was tabled to Sept. 23.
