Markey Wins in Westborough -- by 8 Votes

Westborough had a 34 percent turnout.

Democrat Edward Markey defeated Republican Gabriel Gomez in Westborough on Tuesday -- by eight votes.

Unofficial results released by Town Clerk Nancy Yendriga on Tuesday night showed Markey with 1,875 votes in the special state election for U.S. Senate. Gomez received 1,867 votes.

Twelve Visions Party candidate Richard Heos received eight votes. There were seven write-in votes, and three blanks.

Westborough had a 34 percent turnout, Yendriga said: 3,767 of the town's 11,156 registered voters participated.
