Milford Ends WHS Boys Title Run

Meanwhile, the Rangers girls basketball team opens the state tourney tonight.

The Westborough High School varsity boys basketball team lost to host Milford, 56-49, in the 2013 MIAA Boys Basketball Central Division 1 quarterfinals, Thursday night, according to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association website.

The Rangers had reached the quarterfinals with a 71-67 overtime win over host South in a first round game Tuesday night.

Westborough finished the regular season 11-9 and was seeded last in the 11-team bracket. South was seeded sixth.

Milford, the third seed, advances to the semi-finals at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at WPI. Milford will play the winner of Thursday night's Doherty-Wachusett quarterfinal.

Meanwhile, the WHS girls will play at Holy Name at 7 tonight in a 2013 MIAA Girls Basketball Central Division 1 quarterfinal.

The winner advances to the semi-finals at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Clark University. The Westborough-Holy Name winner will play the winner of tonight's Shepherd Hill-Doherty quarterfinal.

Westborough (10-10) is seeded last in the eight-team tournament. Holy Name (18-2) is seeded first. Shepherd Hill (14-6) is seeded fifth. And Doherty (15-5) is seeded fourth.
