School Events That Have Your Kids Talking

Here are school activities for the entire family.

– The Armstrong Parent Group (APG) is holding a fundraiser with Papa Gino’s on Milk Street. On Monday, Oct. 24, a percentage of the sales from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. will go to the APG. Call some friends, print the coupon and make it a Papa Gino’s pizza night.

– On Saturday, Oct. 15, from 1 to 4 p.m., Fales is holding the annual Family Fun Day & Raffle. The raffle, which is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m., includes classroom baskets, gift certificates, passes to local attractions, teacher donated parties and more. Afternoon activities include face painting, a bounce house, an obstacle course, crafts and a concession stand. Award-winning magician Jason Kallio will perform at 2 p.m. And, of course, there will be a Cake Walk (for a $1 donation). Tickets are $3 per child. Adults are free.

– Books and ice cream, what could be better? Hastings will hold the annual Scholastic Book Fair & Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

– The annual food drive to benefit the Westborough Food Pantry takes place on Monday, Oct. 17. Last year, the fourth grade collected a literal ton of food. This year, the entire school will work together to make a successful donation. Students are asked to contibute non-perishable food items or non-food items that are not out of date, rusty, badly dented or opened.

– Treasure Island will be presented at the school on Oct. 29 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. and on Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. The cast includes 30 middle school students directed by Tania Taylor and Zachary Taylor. The play is suitable for children and adults of all ages. Tickets will be available at the door and are $8 for children 14 and up, $5 for children 13 and under.

– It’s Homecoming Weekend! The Homecoming Dance takes place at the high school gym on Friday, Oct. 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. The Homecoming Festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. Rangers varsity football will host Shrewsbury High School at 2 p.m. At halftime, there will be a celebration to honor the 2011 inductees of the Westborough High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
