Town MCAS Scores Far Exceed State Average

In Science and Technology, Westborough High School students more than doubled the state percentage for advanced performance.

The MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System) testing scores are in and Westborough students are once again showing a strong performance. When looking at testing scores for students of all grades, 85 percent of Westborough’s student body performed at a proficient or advanced level in English and Language Arts (ELA) compared to a state average of 69 percent. In math, 77 percent of students scored at a proficient or advanced level, exceeding the state average of 58 percent.

MCAS scoring is broken into four categories: advanced, proficient, needs improvement and failing. As the names imply, advanced and proficient scores are the goal for students.
