Veterans, Seniors Tax Work Off Applications Available Soon
Voters approved the veterans program in October.

Starting Jan. 22, up to 10 veterans and 50 seniors can apply to work off up to $1,000 from their property taxes.
That's when Westborough's Veterans and Senior Tax Work Off program applications will be available, Westborough Senior Center Director Alma Demanche said today.
The application deadline for each program is Feb. 11, Demanche said.

Westborough is the first Massachusetts town, and the third community overall, to offer a Veterans Tax Work Off Program.
The milestone happened when Westborough voters at the Oct. 16 special town meeting accepted a 2012 state law allowing communities to offer such a program.

Demanche said both tax work off programs require applicants to be the owner and occupant of their residence, which must be their primary residence.
Applicants to the veterans program must provide a copy of their discharge papers attached to their application, she said.
All new applicants chosen for the programs must undergo a CORI check, she said.
The chosen applicants will work for municipal and school departments, she said.
