Want to Serve on a Town Board?

Westborough Town Moderator Joe Harrington has taken what he called a "somewhat unusual step" to fill an advisory finance committee opening.

Harrington has told selectmen he expects the committee will have a vacant one-year term in about a month.

"While I have several names already in hand, I would be interested in any that you might have to suggest," Harrington said.

"Thus, I'm taking the somewhat unusual step of asking publicly like this so that more will hear it, not just yourselves."

Selectmen said Westborough also has these vacancies:

• Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee: two members
• Conservation Commission: one non-voting associate member
• Council on Aging: two members
• Historical Commission: one member, and two non-voting associate members
• Housing Partnership Committee: one member
• Open Space Preservation Committee: one member
• Personnel Board: one member
• Youth Commission: one member, as of July 1; and two youth members that will be sophomores in September
• Zoning Board of Appeals: one member, as of July 1.
