Hydrant flushing is a routine maintenance process that could temporarily impact water quality for residents. Town officials say the program began Apr. 1 and will continue for several weeks as crews move through different neighborhoods.

During flushing, residents may notice discolored or cloudy water, reduced water pressure, or brief interruptions in service. Officials say this is normal and occurs as sediment is cleared from water mains.

Residents are advised to avoid doing laundry if water appears discolored, run cold water taps until it clears if discoloration occurs and check water clarity before using appliances.
