Westborough Police Name Officer of the Year, Honor Top Officers, Welcome New Graduate

The Westborough Police Department is celebrating after an important week for many of its officers.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — The Westborough Police Department is celebrating after an important week for many of its officers.

Detective Sgt. Greg McRae and Lt. Todd Rossi were recognized as Officers of the Month; Officer Chong Her was recognized as Officer of the Year for 2025; and Officer Flerra graduated from the Quinsigamond Community College Police Academy, according to the police department.

Westborough police said it has recently transitioned to new handguns. Detective Sgt. McRae and Lt. Rossi lead the training and transition.

For those efforts, they were recognized as Officers of the Month within the department. “Their efforts ensured a smooth and safe rollout for the entire department,” the police department wrote in a news release.

Also, last week, Officer Her was selected as WPD’s Officer of the Year for 2025. The recognition came from multiple members of the department, including supervisors.

The award “reflects consistent professionalism, hard work, and commitment to the community,” according to the police department.

Lastly, Officer Flerra graduated from the QCC Police Academy last week. He earned the highest GPA in the program and was awarded the Top Gun award for excellence in firearms training.

After nine-months of training, Officer Flerra graduated from QCC's full-time recruit officer course, an entry-level training curriculum for new police officers.

The town will swear in Officer Flerra on Monday morning, as he begins his career with Westborough police.

“These accomplishments reflect the dedication and standards we expect from our officers every day,” the police department shared.
