Westborough Police Receive First 3-Year Reaccreditation Award

WESTBOROUGH, MA — The Westborough Police Department has received its first three-year reaccreditation award from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission.

The department received the award Thursday after completing the reaccreditation process, according to Chief Todd Minardi. The award reflects the department’s compliance with MPAC standards tied to professionalism, accountability, best practices and continued improvement in service to the community, Chief Minardi said.

The department first received MPAC accreditation in June 2023. MPAC accreditation is a voluntary process that evaluates law enforcement agencies against established professional standards and best practices.

The statewide program establishes standards for police agencies to adopt, including written directives and procedures for personnel to follow, according to MPAC.

Chief Minardi thanked Lt. Greg Schipporeit, the department’s accreditation manager, and Sgt. Tom Tepper, the assistant accreditation manager, for their work during the reaccreditation process.
