Westborough Police Welcomes New Patrol Officer

WESTBOROUGH, MA — The Westborough Police Department has added a new patrol officer to its ranks.

Grant Murtagh was appointed as Westborough’s newest patrol officer effective July 1, according to the town manager’s report on Tuesday. Murtagh joins the department as a lateral transfer with previous law enforcement experience in Central Massachusetts.

Murtagh graduated from the Boylston Municipal Police Academy in 2020. He most recently served as a patrol officer for Hardwick and New Braintree, two towns that share police services.

The Westborough Police Department welcomed Murtagh on July 1 and said he would begin field training in town.

The Town Clerk administered Murtagh’s oath of office, making the appointment official.

"The Westborough Police Department is pleased to welcome Officer Murtagh to our department," the department wrote in its announcement earlier this month. "If you see Officer Murtagh around town, please take a moment to say hello and welcome him to Westborough."
