WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough residents have an opportunity to weigh in on a regional effort aimed at making local roads safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
The town is participating in a survey being conducted by the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission, which is developing a “Vision Zero” safety plan. The agency was awarded a regional planning and demonstration project grant to develop a plan for the 40 communities in the region.
The safety plan is a vision to eliminate roadway fatalities and serious injuries on the nation’s roadways, according to CMRPC. The initiative’s goal is to keep streets safe across multiple communities in Central Massachusetts.

While Westborough is not leading the initiative, town officials are encouraging residents to provide feedback on problem intersections, traffic hazards and safety priorities.
Responses will help regional planners identify areas where improvements, like enhanced crosswalks, traffic-calming measures, and roadway redesigns, may be needed.
