Westborough And Southborough Coyote Sightings Reported
A woman in Southborough and her dog were surrounded by four coyotes in her backyard.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough and Southborough residents should keep an eye out for coyotes — officials said several have been spotted in the two towns and some have displayed aggressive behavior to residents and pets.
On Monday, Southborough police warned residents on Facebook about an incident that happened on Sunday in a woman's backyard. A pack of four coyotes surrounded the woman and her dog — the woman's dog is an 85 pound Shephard mix. Police said the animals weren't intimidated by the woman or the dog and didn't leave until the woman's husband chased them off with a broom.
Westborough police shared the Facebook post and added that coyotes have been spotted in the town as well.

This time of year is a very busy time for coyotes, according to Southborough police. Breeding starts in February and by March, the animals look for areas to set up their dens. The female usually gives birth in April. They are very active before sunset until shortly after sunrise, and it’s not unusual for coyotes to be out during the daylight hours in search of food.
The departments reminded residents not to leave small children or pets unattended outdoors, even in fenced in backyards.
