WHS Ski Team Has Great Run at Championships
The WHS group was the largest in team history to qualify for state championships.

The MIAA High School Alpine Skiing Championships were held at Mount Wachusett on Feb. 28. had seven racers participate, four boys and three girls.
The team photos shows, from left to right, Sam Webb (1st alternate), Alison Fisher, Anna Johnson, Johnny Maguire, Coach Matt Nofsinger, Charlie Buress, Robert Stout, Carter Reynolds and Sabina Spofford. This group was the largest contingent of Westborough High School racers to qualify for the high school state championships in the history of the team.

For the girls, sophomore Sabina Spofford was the top finisher in Slalom, finishing 84th, with junior Anna Johnson, who stepped in as an alternate due to an injury to a racer from Algonquin, finished 112th and senior Alison Fisher finished 119th in a highly competitive state-wide field.
In Giant Slalom, Sabina Spofford finished 85th, Ana Johnson finished 111th and Alison Fisher finished in 123rd place.
For the boys, sophomore Carter Reynolds was the top finisher in the Giant Slalom rung at 45th place. Junior Johnny Maguire came in 75th place. Freshman Charlie Buress finished 111th and freshman Robert Stout fell on the course and was unable to finish.
In Slalom, Carter Reynolds finished 39th, Johnny Maguire close behind (.06 to be precise) at 42nd position. Charlie Buress finished at 106th position with Robert Stout finishing after having a terrific run, but catching one of the finishing gates that slowed him down.
