WHS Student Council Brings 'Extra Life' to Boston's Children's Hospital
The students raised $400 during a three-hour video game marathon Saturday.
Nine video screens featuring games such as “Crash Nav” and “MarioKart Double Dash” made the Westborough High School main entrance feel like an arcade on Saturday afternoon.
Kids at Boston’s Children’s Hospital were the winners.
The Westborough High Student Council’s three-hour video game marathon benefited the hospital through Extra Life, a charity that supports children’s hospitals through such events.

In Westborough, guests paid $4 to compete, unless they raised funds, student council President Maggie Sharma said.
“One of our goals on student council is always to keep our school community involved and reach out to different groups of people in the best ways that we can,” said Sharma, a senior.

“Running this kind of event attracts a different group of people than you would get at a football game or something like that.”
The students raised $400 between in-person and online support, said resident Elicia Basoli, who helped the group with the event.
Sharma said she connected with Extra Life through her father and Basoli, who “work with Extra Life directly.”
A committee of student council members chose the games, Sharma said.
“People are definitely liking the dance games. Or Super Smash Brothers, because that’s what you used to play when you were younger,” she said.
Sharma said she hoped players “know that coming in and playing the games,” they were also “supporting such a good cause.”
