Young Writers Honored by Woman's Club

Two Gibbons Middle School students were recently presented awards for their writing.

Two Westborough students are state winners of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) writing contest. The GFWC of Massachusetts sponsors a short story and poetry contest yearly for students from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Arpita Joyce, who just completed seventh grade, won for place among students in grades 7 to 9 for her poem Ancient River. Her entry was submitted to the national contest sponsored by the GFWC International.

Joshua Chen, who just completed seventh grade, won second place for his short story Lost Ghost.

Both students attend . The students and their parents recently attended a state program where all short story, poetry, art and photography winners were recognized.
