The board wants to add four students as appointed, voting members.

The Westborough Youth Commission wants to add four high school students as voting members.

Selectmen have directed Town Manager Jim Malloy to work with the commission to create an article for the March 16 annual town meeting warrant.

“One of the things that we constantly bring up is the need for more volunteers,” Selectmen Vice Chairman Ian Johnson said.

“I think starting with some of our younger residents will hopefully help us down the road.”

Commission Chairman Michelle Grasso said the board currently has five adult voting members. And over the last six years, four students have served simultaneously as non-voting members, offering “a fresh perspective on what their concerns are,” she said.
