Judith Moffatt, children's book author, illustrator and teacher,
is the Artist of the Month for the month of May. Her works will be displayed in
the Art Gallery from May 6 - 29. A reception including a short slide
presentation will be held on May 29 from 6:30-8:30 pm. Her love for paper began with the beautiful samples
her father would bring home from his job at a printing company. After an early
career in advertising she decided to pursue her life-long ambition to become a
children’s book illustrator. In 1990 she illustrated her first book using a
3-dimensional cut paper style. Since then she has published over 50 books for
children. Moffatt has received several
awards in international dimensional art competitions. Too Many Rabbits was
recognized as an American Pick of the List selection, The Sun-Maid-Raisin
Play Book was a Children’s Book of the Month Club main selection, and the
I Am a... Nature Reader science series won an Oppenheim Best Book Gold
Award. Her magazine pieces have received awards from The Society of Children’s
Book Writers and Illustrators, Highlights for Children Magazine and the
Association of Educational Publishers.
