'Don't Be This Guy': Mass. Troopers Scold Drivers Who Leave Cars Covered in Snow
After a traffic stop in Weston, state police said they are "aggressively" looking for drivers who haven't cleared snow from their car.

WESTON, MA – Don't drive with snow on your car, or you'll face the wrath of the Massachusetts State Police. That was the message Wednesday after a traffic stop in Weston.
It was a violation of highway safety so egregious that state police lead their warning with the snarky, "Soooo..... this just happened." The sedan had the majority of its windshield covered in snow, to the point where its wipers were still upright.
State police responded with a – very clear – message about how not to drive after a snowstorm:

Soooo..... this just happened.
Trooper Paul Copponi just stopped this vehicle on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Weston. How little regard do you have to have for the lives and safety of your fellow citizens, not to mention your own life and safety, to do this?
Rest assured, we are aggressively looking for anyone who is driving around like this today. Don't be this guy.
How much trouble can you get in if you don't clear your car before hitting the road? Turns out, anywhere from a $40 to $200 fine. While Massachusetts doesn't have a specific law for snow clearing, one officer told MassLive a $40 fine may be issued for impeded operation if a driver's windows are blocked and a $200 fine for driving with an unsecured load, which pertains to accumulation on a car's roof.
And if snow comes off of your car and causes a crash, you could be held accountable in criminal or civil court. Sometimes, under the criminal negligent operation statute, according to MassLive.
