ICYMI: Outdoor Burning Season Has Begun In Weston: Know The Rules

Here is what you need to know about open burning in Weston, including permission and open burning tips.

WESTON, MA – The outdoor burning season in Massachusetts started on Jan. 15 and ends on May 1. To burn on a given day, call 781-786-6101 after 8 a.m. and make sure that burning is being allowed on that particular day.

Here are Weston's requirements for open burning, according to the Town of Weston website:

1. Burning Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Brush and forestry debris only. No leaves, grass, or building materials.

3. On your own property and as close as possible to the source of material(s) to be burned.

4. Burn at least 75 feet from the nearest dwelling.

5. You must have a means of controlling the fire close by.

6. Flammable liquids of any kind are prohibited at any time.

7. If it gets windy, extinguish the fire immediately.
