WATCH: Weston Police Release Ducklings To Charles River
A mama mallard laid her eggs in a closed off courtyard in town, so Weston police decided to help them find a suitable home in the river.

WESTON, MA — Weston police picked up a particularly cute detail on Tuesday, the job was as chaperones for a clutch of newly hatched ducklings. The department helped Weston Animal Control Officer Rachel Hoffman reunite the babies with their mother, after they hatched in an inconvenient area and caught each waddle on video.
The department said Hoffman got a call a few weeks ago from Wingate Healthcare of Weston, a nursing home. Employees at the facility said a mother mallard laid eggs in the courtyard of the building and they were worried what would happen once the eggs hatched, since there was no water nearby.
Hoffman and police waited for the babies to hatch before moving them on Tuesday and reuniting them with their mother at the Charles River. At least nine ducklings were hatched and transported. The adorable ordeal was all caught on video and posted to the police department's Facebook page. The post was riddled with duck puns and ended with one as well. "It is also rumored that ACO Hoffman has since switched her insurance to Aflac. Whether this is a coincidence or a result of spending the morning with ducks is entirely unknown. We can only speculate," the post reads.
