Weston Passes Trump Impeachment Petition At Town Meeting
Residents voted Tuesday on a citizen petition asking the House to examine whether President Trump is violating the Emoluments Clause.

WESTON, MA – Residents of Weston voted Tuesday on a citizen petition asking the U.S. House of Representatives to investigate whether President Trump should be impeached. The petition asks the House specifically to examine whether Trump is violating the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, which outlaws financial gain for sitting presidents beyond receiving their salary.
The motion passed by majority, according to the town. The resolution echoes similar motions filed in Brookline, Newton, Cambridge and other communities.
Mainly a symbolic gesture, petitioners in other municipalities have said enough support could throw weight behind other groups' efforts to consider impeaching the president. There is currently no such process underway.
