British International School of Boston Hosts New England Regional History Bee on April 11

Over 300 students from public and private schools in Boston will gather at the British International School of Boston for the history bee.

The Jamaica Plain international school is hosting the New England regional competition of the National History Bee, an annual history competition that attracts more than 10,000 students from across the country each year.

“Our students have really embraced the competition this year and it is a fantastic achievement to have four students progress to the Regional Competition, where they will compete with students from all over New England,” said team leader, Head of History Mr. Will Mitchell. “As a historian, I’m excited to see the breadth and depth of subject knowledge of the next generation of historians on display here this weekend.”

Participants in the National History Bee compete head-to-head to be the first to “buzz-in” with the correct answer. The winning student from Saturday’s competition will earn a spot in the national competition, to be held in Kentucky this May.

To qualify for the Boston regional history bee, middle school students competed in inter-school competitions and an online national qualifying history exam.
