Jury Selection for Murdered West Roxbury Resident Starting Today

Jury selection is scheduled to begin today in the first-degree murder trial of Dorchester resident Corey Patterson for the 2009 killing of West Roxbury's Gregory Phillips.
Phillips was 24 at the time of his death, and according to the Suffolk County DA's office, was trying to intervene on the behalf of a friend involved in a fistfight.

Patterson, presently 23, allegedly threw the first punch in that fight after making rude comments to a young woman friendly with the victim and the other combatan, according to a Suffolk County DA press release.
The fight occurred on Nov. 8, 2009 at the intersection of Harvard and Brighton avenues in the Boston neighborhood of Allston.
