O’Malley Chairing Government Operations; Connolly Chairing Education

At-Large City Councilor John Connolly will chair the Education Committee for the Boston City Council.

 

The Boston City Council Committee assignments are out with At-Large Boston City Councilor John Connolly being renamed as chair to the Education Committee. 

Connolly has quickly made a name for himself by , and his chairmanship of the Education Committee will allow to continue that focus.

West Roxbury's District Councilor Matt O’Malley was named chair of the City Council’s Government Operations Committee by City Council President Stephen Murphy.

O’Malley was also re-named vice chair of the Economic Development Committee, and a member of the committees on: Ways & Means, Public Safety, Education, Housing, and Labor, Youth Affairs, and Human Rights.

Connolly was also named to: Ways & Means, Post Audit & Oversight, Environmental & Health, and Census & Redistricting.

“I am honored to be named the Chair of the Government Operations Committee and I look forward to being an active member of the other council committees I have been assigned to,” said O’Malley via press release. “I appreciate the confidence that City Council President Murphy has placed in me. I look forward to meeting the challenges ahead and will work hard to effect positive change through these committees.”

The Government Operations Committee works on issues related to the structure and mechanics of city government and its departments, agencies, and commissions. All proposed ordinances and special laws are referred to this committee. The committee also has oversight of the activities of the Mayor’s Office, as well as numerous committees and boards.
