POLL: Should Debit Cards be Allowed to Buy Lottery Tickets?

State Treasurer Steven Grossman says that by January 1, residents will be allowed to use debit cards to buy state lottery tickets.

 

State Treasurer Steven Grossman has said that starting January 1, state lottery tickets will be available by using debit cards. Previously, this was not allowed in Massachusetts.

According to Fox-25, Grossman said 33 other states allow residents to use debit cards. Convenience stores already have ATMs that customers use to withdraw cash to play the lottery, said Grossman.

Residents would still not be able to accept credit cards or welfare cards to play lottery games.
