Last week the WRNC's Zoning Committee met on Jan. 17. Larry Costello provided the following committee decisions:

1690 Centre St.: All five members of the Board voted in favor of granting variance to the proposed staircase between the first floor and basement extending the owner's living space to the basement.
399 Belgrade Ave.: All five members of the Board voted in favor of granting variance to the proposed 16' x 32' x 28.5' addition. The Board approval is only with respect to the violations to: i - Article 9, Section 1: Extension of Non-Conforming Uses and Reconstruction and Extension of Non-Conforming Buildings. ii - Article 56, Section 16: Rear Yard Insufficient.
These two violations were listed in the original ISD letter of July 22, 2011 and were confirmed in the ISD second review letter dated December 16, 2011, according to Larry Costello, of the WRNC. However, the Board questioned ISD's note in the July 22, 2011 letter regarding Article 80E Small Project Review, Site Plan Component Required. The Board required confirmation that the site plan component was submitted to, and reviewed by ISD, since there is no mention of or reference to this subject in ISD's second letter of December 16. Hence the Board was specific that their vote excluded the issue regarding Article 80E Small Project Review.
