Families Compete with Smiles in Kid's Triathlon

Children and parents alike took part in the annual Kid's Triathlon at Hale on Wednesday.

Children of all ages gathered at Hale Reservation's Membership Beach for the annual Kid's Triathlon Wednesday night.

The family-oriented event welcomed mothers, fathers and their children to take part in this activities. Kids swam by the docks of Noanet Pond and bounced on a giant water trampoline, as others ran their routes in a three-part race. The children were followed close behind by cheering parents and family members.

The foot race began with running a lap by the Arts and Crafts Center, then back down to the beachfront for kayaking, and ended down the shore side by the docks for the swim race.

Younger children were accompanied by parents in order to make sure nobody was hurt, but children ages six to eight raced on their own with intense and determined faces as they aimed for the finish line.

All participants were encouraged to be safe, and to pick the correct sized life jacket when going into the water for the kayak and swim segments of the race. The children were also separated into small groups in order to prevent injury.

All participants were given candy prizes out of a big blue basket at the end of the race.
