Calling All Songwriters! Enter Our Illumination Songwriting Contest for a Chance to Perform and Sell Your Music

Aspiring songwriters, this one’s for you! The “Illumination Songwriting Contest” presented by Mustard Seed Music and Sports Promotion, in association with the Hull Lifesaving Museum, is offering songwriters the chance to submit their work and advance their career.

The winner of this new songwriting contest will perform their work live at the Harbor Illumination Music Festival, Saturday, July 25, in Hull. The performance will be part of the 2015 Illumination festivities that culminates with the annual Illumination, a spectacular event in which 1,000 flares are lit around the crescent of Hull Bay in memory of a person, event or idea.

There is no fee to enter a song. However, it must have original music and lyrics that include the word “Illumination” and also make mention of the historic lifesaver “Joshua James,” whose artifacts are curated by the Hull Lifesaving Museum. Song entries (via CD, MP3, etc.) must be received by the Museum no later than July 15, 2015.

“With the multitude of singers, songwriters and musicians in the area, we wanted to get them involved with the Music Festival and offer them an opportunity to showcase their songwriting talents,” said James Quinlivan, Mustard Seed’s CEO. “Their song will be heard by qualified professionals and then the winner will perform it live at the event.”

In addition, the winning songwriter will receive a prize of an hour’s worth of studio time at a local recording studio, an opportunity to sell copies of their song at Hull Lifesaving Museum for a month, and be promoted on the Mustard Seed Music and Sports Promotion website. “We’ll also help promote the song on various outlets,” Quinlivan said.
