CTA Construction Completes New Tufts Library in Weymouth
New 50,000 square foot building will be turned over to city in September
Weymouth, Mass. (September 4, 2020) – CTA Construction Managers announced today the completion of the new Tufts Library – a 50,000 square foot facility located on Broad Street in Weymouth.
The new library features a greatly expanded children’s literature department, several community meeting rooms, innovative technological advancements, and an outdoor amphitheater. In addition, the building features a large lobby with a café for patrons, a digital media lab with updated computer software and space designated specifically for teen activities.
“This project is very special as it represents such an important community resource that will enable programming for people of literally every generation in Weymouth,” said Paul DuRoss, Principal at CTA Construction. “It’s also a project that encountered some unexpected challenges with COVID-19 impacts, and I’m happy to say our team along with all those involved overcame them with great success.”

CTA Construction worked closely with project architect Tappe Architects, Inc. and the owner’s project manager, Hill International, on the Tufts Library project.
It was a cooperative venture between the Town of Weymouth and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, which awarded Weymouth over $12 million for the construction of a new library. Weymouth is currently moving into the new opening and plans an opening later in the month.
