Hammond Residential in Hingham to Host Local Artists' Show

Works by Hull Artists Members Ken Vallario and Susan Hagstrom Will Be Featured

HINGHAM, Mass. (September 25, 2015) – Jeff Forsythe, manager of Hammond Residential Real Estate’s Hingham office located at 98 South Street, is pleased to announce that the office will exhibit works by members of Hull Artists Ken Vallario and Susan Hagstrom through April 15, 2016. An opening reception in connection with this exhibit will he held on Sunday, October 18 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The artists will be present to discuss their works and all display works are also offered for purchase.

For nearly twenty years, Hull Artists has been a fixture on the South Shore. Member artists are established, award-winning professionals who work in media such as watercolors, mixed media, oils, pastels, photography, mosaic, stained glass, acrylic, woodcrafts, pottery, and hand-crafted jewelry. Many of these artists have earned advanced degrees in art and art education, and some offer art classes through the organization, which recently opened a new gallery space, Gallery Nantasket, at 121 Nantasket Avenue in Hull.

Ken Vallario’s education has been a life lived near the sea. His art is closely connected to boats and ships, with his creative time spent trying to paint what he sees. While contemplating his paintings with a brush in one hand and a pallet full of paint in the other, he strives to calm his mind and to just paint. In the end, he hopes that he is successful and that the viewer is able to see what he sees.

As a photographer, Susan Hagstrom is inspired by the world around her. Sometimes this has included far away and exotic places but, more often than not, it includes the city streets, wooded paths, and sandy shorelines close to her home. She purchased her first 35 mm SLR camera when she was living in Bavaria, Germany, and was inspired by the country’s beautiful landscape. She spends a lot of time composing her subjects, but rarely manipulates them to suit her technical needs. Her goal is to relate the connection she felt to a subject when she took the photograph, and to inspire the viewer to develop his or her own connection to the image.

Throughout its twenty-four year history, Hammond Residential Real Estate has made the visual and performing arts the primary focus of its corporate philanthropy. “We believe in giving back to the communities that we serve through free events focused on the many local artists who make our community an exciting and vibrant place to live,” stated Jeff Forsythe. “We are pleased to partner with the Hull Artists organization, which has been an esteemed community resource for twenty years. In addition to our fine arts exhibits, we also sponsor a series of free chamber music concerts that highlight the talents of emerging performers,” he said.
