Quincy SafePlace: Support for Survivors of Suicide Loss

Samaritans' peer support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide will be meeting this evening at Christ Church Quincy.

The Quincy SafePlace group will be meeting this evening, September 24, from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Christ Church Quincy. SafePlace is an open group for people who have lost a loved one to suicide. It provides an atmosphere of acceptance for exploring feelings that are often not understood by others. These meetings are free, on-going, and drop in – there is no registration necessary. Trained volunteers and staff from Samaritans, a statewide suicide prevention organization, facilitate this group. All of the participants are suicide survivors and facilitators have lost someone to suicide as well.

The Quincy SafePlace group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of every month from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Christ Church Quincy located at 12 Quincy Street, Quincy, MA 02169.

Samaritans’ mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide by alleviating despair, isolation, distress and suicidal feelings among individuals in our community, 24 hours a day; to educate the public about suicide prevention; and to reduce the stigma associated with suicide. We accomplish this through services that emphasize confidential, non-judgmental, and compassionate listening.
