South Weymouth, Mass., - (January 22, 2018) Employees of South Shore Health System raised $140,000 during the recent Together We Give, annual colleague campaign. The fundraising effort will benefit the recently opened Critical Care Unit where the only Level II Trauma Center south of Boston is located.

“By participating in the Together We Give campaign, you have sent a powerful message of support to the entire organization, says Gene E. Green, MD, MBA, President/CEO of South Shore Health System. “Your generosity is a testament to your dedication to our Health System, our community and each other.”

The theme of the campaign was I.C.U. Making a Difference. It was a spirited, interactive and enthusiastic effort which saw the rate of participation in the annual fundraiser continuing to grow. Many employees donated paid time off earnings as well.

“Through donations and volunteerism, our colleagues actively played a role in enhancing our organization’s important immediate and long term goals,” says campaign co-chair Kristopher Young, Director of Pharmacy.

Dr. Mark Hershey, Chairman of Critical Care Medicine at South Shore Health System, says the idea of leading the Critical Care Unit, and colleagues, into the future is exciting. “With your magnanimous support, we will look forward to taking the CCU to the next level professionally and clinically, providing care for our community that is second to none.”

Since 2013, all colleagues combined have raised a total of $940,000 for the Together We Give campaign. When the milestone mark of $1M dollars is reached, the corridor in the new Critical Care Unit will be dedicated as Colleague Way. It will be a very fitting tribute to those who support South Shore Health System each day.
