Weymouth Man Arrested on Armed Robbery Charge

A Weymouth man is accused of robbing a bank on Washington Street Wednesday morning.
Tony L. Williams, 56, was arrested by Weymouth police and charged with armed robbery.
At approximately 9:07 a.m., police reported to a report of a bank robbery at S Bank. A victim told police that Williams entered the bank and passed a note stating he had a gun and demanding money. The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money according to the Weymouth Police Department.

Several units responded to the area as well as a K-9 unit. Officers discovered several discarded clothing items that the suspect had been wearing behind a business across the street at 69 Broad St.
A short time later Sgt. James St.Croix observed an individual fitting the description of the suspect walking in the parking area of 95 Broad St. The subject fled when he saw the officer. Several officers responded to assist him. After a brief struggle officers took the suspect into custody. The money taken from the bank was located stuffed down his pants.

The suspect was identified through bank surveillance footage as well as through witnesses.
